With all of the studies and surveys out there one may get the impression those that dare to buy a American car are left, pretty well impressed.
Don’t believe it? Look at Consumer Reports, JD Power, and True Delta studies, and you see that American cars have come a long way, and many are approaching, and even surpassing what was once considered the best out there. Regardless of origin.
We hear a lot of the past horror stories, the squandering of profits in the heyday, and shoddy workmanship, so it is safe to assume most American manufactures have deservedly received a black eye. But have those days now in the past? Look at the new models coming out of Detroit and you can see glimpses of brilliance on the horizon and maybe the first signs of a genuine turn around.
So I challenge you to put aside your prejudices and stereotypes about American iron, take the time to read the facts and tell us if you can be seduced over to the dark side.
Would you ever buy an American car? And give us the reasons why you might.

Mercedes-Benz is set to feature several key models at the Company Car Action event to be held at Millbrook Proving Ground.
The event, which takes place on June 17th through to the 19th, sees the automaker aim its Mercedes-Benz cars at fleet managers looking to kit out their firms.
Arriving at the show will be the new C-Class estate, the Mercedes-Benz CLC as well as the SLK and SL roadsters.
“The main focus for Mercedes-Benz at Company Car in Action will be to introduce the brand new C-Class estate and CLC,” a spokesman told.
Drivers will get the chance to test out some of the luxury models on a special circuit designed for the event and they will also be able to learn about the safety and environmental issues behind the cars on show.
With technologies such as PRE-SAFE, an anticipatory accident protection system, Mercedes-Benz cars are some of the safest on the road.
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class saloon was also awarded a Euro NCAP five star rating for adults.

Kingston– Mercedes-Benz Canada is proud to announce that Kingston’s van Herpt Motors Dealer Principal, Al van Herpt and Mercedes-Benz Canada President, Marcus Breitschwerdt jointly broke ground yesterday to mark the official beginning of the construction of a completely new stand alone premise for the Mercedes-Benz brand. The new exclusive facility will be erected at 1432 Bath Road, on one of the busiest business arteries of Kingston. The smart brand will also now be sold out of this new location.
Van Herpt Motors has been a household name in Kingston since 1954. Founded by Dealer Principal Alphonsus (Al) van Herpt, it has always been a family-owned and family-operated business. It was on April 1st, 1993 that Al van Herpt took over the Mercedes-Benz brand. It shared at that time a modest building on Portsmouth Avenue with another brand.
Fifteen years later, three generations of van Herpt family members currently run the day-to-day operations under one roof at 1468 Bath Road.
In November 2008, the Mercedes-Benz and smart brands will be housed in a new state-of-the-art 11,000 square foot stand alone facility. The full-fledged sales, parts and service dealership has been designed to fully meet the Mercedes-Benz Autohaus building standards; it will showcase the well-established look and feel of many of the other Mercedes-Benz dealerships across Canada and around the world.
Marcus Breitschwerdt, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada said, “The excitement level was high today as we helped Al van Herpt and his son, Sales Manager Ed van Herpt’s turn over the first few shovels of dirt on the site of the new facility. Both Al and Ed have recognized the current and future growth of our Mercedes-Benz and smart brands and have great plans to further develop them in the Kingston market. This new facility is a true commitment to their existing and future customers; it will allow them to offer unparalleled service and make a lot more room for our impressive product line-up, now and tomorrow.”

Bajaj motorcycles sales grew 24% owing to the strong performance of its 125cc+ DTS-i portfolio; combined sales of Pulsar, Avenger, Discover and XCD grew 34%.
Consequently, in the 125cc+ segment which is now approximately 36% of the motorcycle industry, Bajaj continues to lead with a market share of approximately 50%.
Bajaj’s immediate strategy is to introduce 4 well positioned 125cc+ motorcycles in FY09 in its endeavour to expand the 125cc+ segment to represent 50% of the industry by March’09.
Lackluster market conditions continue to cause degrowth in Commercial Vehicles.
Strong export growth is expected to continue this year with exports expected at over 800,000 units.
