LMS: Audi re-captures lead in Le Mans Series

Man, the 1000km de Spa may go down as one of the best between the two Goliath’s. Audi may have been able to pull this one off as they have found some speed against the dominant Peugeot. We will see pace of both when testing at Le Mans starts in about 2.5 weeks.

2009 MCA ALA 50

MCA ALA 50

The new ALA 50, unveiled by Albert II, Sovereign Prince of Monaco, was built in honour of the 25th anniversary of Monaco’s first-ever car brand in May.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary, Monegasque car manufacturer Monte Carlo Automobile has created this brand new GT and is dedicating it to Prince Albert II.

The name ALA 50 is a tribute to Prince Albert’s 50th birthday, in March and also symbolises the models aerodynamic system.
The car is completely made out of carbon fibre and it features a 650hp V8. There are talks about this car entering the Le Mans 24 Hours race in 2010.

After the official launch of the ALA 50 racing car, there will be a road version produced that you can order.

The all-new Skoda Superb

The new Skoda Superb, direct rival to the new Ford Mondeo, Renault Laguna, Honda Accord, Citroen C5 and, the new Vauxhall Insignia.

The new Superb combines suspension and floorpan parts from the VW Passat and Skoda Octavia. This model is 35mm longer than its predecessor and 42mm shorter in wheel base. Despite all the changes, the car has still has a lot of space inside.

There will be six different engines offered in the Superb. There will be a 1.4-litre petrol turbo engine which will produce 125bhp, a new 2.0-litre common-rail 172bhp turbodiesel, which will be available in either a six-speed manual or six-speed twin-clutch paddle-shift, another diesel engine pushing 140bhp and the top of the range 3.6-litre, 260bhp V6.

This is the first common-rail diesel engine which is quiet and also meets the new Euro 5 emission standards.

The UK will be offered three different models, the S, SE and Elegance, but they will also be offered all of the engine ranges.

All of the models will have 9 airbags, some models will have a unique adaptive headlight system, that will change the shape of the forward beam according to the conditions.

The 172bhp diesel will reach 0-62 in 8.8 seconds, and is very quiet at 100mph.

The new Skoda Superb will cost around £15,000 for a base model and will reach around £25,000 for the full-spec Elegance. Auto insurance quotes aren’t known yet.
